Community & Island Partnership

A development designed to grow
with Pemba, not apart from it.

Our vision is to create a development that benefits not only its residents, but also the people and natural environment of Pemba. From the beginning, this project has been designed to work with the local community through education, employment, cultural exchange and environmental stewardship.

Our guiding principle

If this project succeeds, the surrounding community should succeed with it.

Important note

These initiatives represent early ideas and priorities. They may evolve, expand, or change over time through collaboration with local communities, partners and relevant authorities as the project develops.

Design Principle

Shared value, respect for place and long-term usefulness

The broader Kushukuru vision is not only architectural. It is also social. The aim is to create an environment where private ownership, local opportunity, cultural respect and practical collaboration can sit alongside one another with clarity.

Public Access

The coastline should remain connected to the island.

The beaches of Zanzibar belong to everyone, and we are committed to maintaining public access to the coastline while creating shared spaces where residents and local communities can connect.

Evolving With Collaboration

These ideas will be shaped with local input.

We intend to listen, adapt and build these initiatives with the surrounding community rather than treat them as fixed promises decided in isolation.

Shared Spaces

Designed for connection rather than separation

Certain areas of the development are intended to encourage interaction between residents and the local community.

Looking Forward

More than homes on the coastline.

Our goal is to build a place where residents, visitors and the people of Pemba can learn from one another, share opportunities and protect the island’s natural beauty together. By working collaboratively with local communities and organisations, we hope this project becomes a positive part of Pemba’s future.
